경성여객 사옥
면목동에 위치한 경성여객의 사옥이다. 건물은 버스 차고지와 연계된 업무시설로, 층별 프로그램을 명확히 구분하여 계획하였다. 1층은 임대용 상업시설로 구성하고, 차고지와 같은 높이에 위치한 2층에는 버스 기사들의 휴식 공간과 종합 사무실을 배치하였다. 3층과 4층에는 구내식당과 사무공간을 두었으며, 5층은 임대 사무실을 조성하였다.
도로를 면한 전면부 입면은 수직 격자 패턴을 기반으로 창과 거짓창을 적절히 혼합하여 구성하였다. 이를 통해 정서향 입면으로 과도한 직사광이 유입되는 것을 조절하면서도, 규칙적인 리듬과 단단한 표정을 형성하였다. 반대로 차고지와 맞닿은 2층 종합사무실의 동측 입면에는 개구부를 최대한 확보하여, 진출입하는 버스를 효율적으로 관리하고 통제할 수 있도록 계획하였다.
외장재는 대중적으로 사용되는 이화 적벽돌(1003번)로 전체를 마감하여, 친숙하면서도 견고한 건물의 인상을 완성하였다.
This is the headquarters building of Gyeongseong Passenger Transport, located in Myeonmok-dong. Conceived as an office facility closely connected to the adjacent bus depot, the building clearly organises its program by floor. The ground floor is planned as a commercial rental space, while the second floor—aligned with the level of the depot—accommodates a lounge for bus drivers and the main administrative office. The third and fourth floors contain the company cafeteria and additional office spaces, and the fifth floor is arranged as rental office units.
The street-facing façade is composed through a vertical grid pattern, carefully combining windows and dummy openings. This strategy moderates excessive direct sunlight from the west while establishing a disciplined rhythm and solid architectural expression. In contrast, the eastern façade of the second-floor office, facing the bus depot, maximizes openings in order to enable efficient supervision and control of buses entering and exiting the site.
The entire exterior is finished with widely used Ewha red brick (No. 1003), completing a familiar yet robust character for the building.
