​소토 무라 전시회 

포르투갈 건축가 소토 무라의 작품을 《건축가의 여정》이라는 제목 아래 기획 및 전시하고, 전시 공간을 디자인하였다. 소토 무라는 오랜 스승이자 친구인 알바로 시자 (Alvaro Siza)와 함께 포르투갈 모더니즘을 대표해 온 건축가로, 포르투에서 태어나 성장했다. 그의 건축은 다양한 현대적 재료와 언어를 적극적으로 수용하면서도 깊이 있는 전통 건축의 물성과 공간을 잃지 않는다.

전통적으로 건축 드로잉은 대부분의 건축가에게 가장 효과적인 도구이자 언어였다. 소토 무라의 스케치, 드로잉, 콜라주는 특히 영감을 주는 작업으로, 단순히 대지와 건물의 물리적 조건을 다루는 데 그치지 않고 건축가의 사유와 지향점을 함께 드러낸다. 《건축가의 여정》은 건축가의 초기 생각이 어떻게 스케치와 드로잉으로 구체화되고, 그 드로잉이 건축 계획안으로 발전하여, 마침내 하나의 건축물로 실현되는지를 보여주는 점진적 과정을 추적한다.

전시 공간은 연목으로 기둥 구조를 세워 구성하고, 그 내부에 거대한 타원형 공간을 형성하였다. 중앙에는 도면과 사진을 진열하고, 타원형 벽면을 따라 모형을 배치하였다. 테마 컬러는 포르투의 전통적 건축물 입면에서 흔히 볼 수 있는 아줄레주 (Azulejo)에서 영감을 받은 블루와 화이트로 설정하였다.

An exhibition of works by the Portuguese architect Souto de Moura was conceived and presented under the title Journey of an Architect, and the exhibition space was designed accordingly. Along with his long-time collaborator Álvaro Siza, he has been a leading figure of Portuguese modernism. Born and raised in Porto, he embraces contemporary materials and architectural language while never losing the depth, materiality, and spatial sensibility rooted in traditional architecture.

Traditionally, architectural drawing has been the most effective tool and language for architects. Souto de Moura’s sketches, drawings, and collages, however, are particularly inspiring; they go beyond addressing the physical conditions of the site and building, revealing the architect’s reflections and vision. Journey of an Architect traces the gradual process through which the architect’s initial thoughts are translated into sketches and drawings, developed into architectural schemes, and ultimately realised as built form.

The exhibition space was constructed using laminated timber columns to create a structural framework, within which a large elliptical space was formed. Drawings and photographs were displayed at the centre, while models were arranged along the curved perimeter wall. The theme colours—cobalt blue and white—were inspired by the azulejos commonly found on the façades of Porto’s historic buildings.
